Vista Keeps Restarting Continuously Bug Can Not Start

Hello All,
I am in some need of help for Windows Vista Home Edition Premium.
Yesterday I had an Acer laptop that had some spyware and viruses on it. It also starting fine and it said it couldn't find a "file to load: Navprod."
So I ran ad-adware and avg multiple times and removed some basic spyware, removed the virus Spysherriff C, D etc. I then found that the Navprod was a sysmantec file and downloaded their utility to fix the "Internet Security" program.
Well it seemed to work, so I went to restart the laptop and all of a sudden, the laptop would load Vista and reach the login screen. After approxmatley 2-3 seconds, it would automatically reboot. The only way I am able to get to my desktop is to press F8 and "load last good configuration" and it will load properly. However the computer runs fine and connects to the internet (as if nothing was wrong) but as soon as I restart the machine, it goes back into the rebooting loop (noted above).
Please help.
I have done the following steps;
I have disabled 'automatic restart' when Windows has an error (in System Properties) but only in the admin account. I don't think I changed it for the user account. (There are two accounts on this laptop)
I had disabled system restore (for removing the viruses and spyware) so I do not have a backup point. (dumb goof there)
I have tried booting to safe mode and all that happens is my computer will run through the "dos" like startup then reboot and then start the rebooting loop again. I also tried all the other options under F8 with no success.
I created a Vista boot up cd and used that to boot up, run the repair function, selected the 'fix startup' feature and the first time it ran, it discovered a problem and supossely fixed it (but with no luck) and ran it multiple times again with it reporting that there isn't a start up problem. (However, it still is in a rebooting loop.)
I am able to post more information about the laptop or specifics about it, but would like some guidance as to what information you need. I can also post a hijack log if needed. I am an experience users with good technical skills so please feel free to give me whatever instuctions you need to help with the problem.
Basics about the laptop,
2.0 GH Acer with 40 gb hd.
766 MB ram
Vista came preinstalled on the machine with Acer Powertechnolgies on it.
This is a newer machine and the hard drive, ram and other stuff seems to be testing out ok.
I can boot up the machine using F8 and selecting "Last good configuration" and it will boot up fine. Everything appears to run smoothly (including no viruses or spyware). However, nothing I've tried will maintain these settings so when I reboot, it goes back into the reboot loop.
I am working on obtaining a Vista install dvd right now (should have one within the day) so I am trying every repair option I can with only the Vista boot cd I created.
If I have to reinstall Vista (as a last resort), how can I determine my cd-key (I have a legit version of Vista) and backup all my settings/files? If possible though, I would like guidance on repairing the startup for Vista. Will Belarc provide me the correct key to reinstall Vista?
I will be checking this post very frequently and will response immedately to any help that is offered.

If Vista was pre-installed, it's most likely an OEM, in which case if you get the original disk you won't require a serial number. But just in case, I use Magic Jelly Bean, gets serial keys for a whole bunch of things: http://www.download.com/3001-2094_4-10664536.html

HELP! I do have kb937287 on my machine.
Thanks so much for finding some vital information that I hadn't known about. Man, I thought I did something wrong with the removals of the viruses and malware/spyware. In fact, I was being pro-active when I update the machine with the latest updates.
But the problem rises, how do I fix this problem? I know the article (pasted below) didn't say Microsoft had a solution yet, but is there anymore articles or 'how tos' on how to fix this problem?
I did obtain a (gateway co. ) install dvd. (It isn't the one that came with this acer though)
Also, I did make an Acer 'Factory Restore' dvd.
How, I want the absolute last trouble shooting step to be reinstalling vista.
This update, can I uninstall it with Vista's control panel 'program and feature'?
Perhaps a better uninstaller that I could use instead?
Any thoughts on how to remove or remedy the rebooting problem (perhaps because of kb937287)?

From what research I have done, I haven't found any solutions to remedy this anywhere.
It looks like you only have two options:
1. Restore to a previous restore point ( prior to 2/12/08 ) or
2. Reinstall OS ( system recovery )
You might want to try option 1 first.
There is no way to uninstall it as is the case with many of the Windows updates.
If option 1 doesn't work and you decide on option 2 post back and let me know before
you do it. I need to give you some further information.
PS: I had the same problem and had to do the reinstall because I didn't have a restore point available.
Has to be prior to 2/12/08 ( the release date of that update )

I have an update to this issue instead of reformatting, since I had the same issue, I chose last known good config which allowed me to boot up I than uninstalled adaware, created a restore point ( i had system restore turned off), and than i updated windows. I rebooted the laptop and it is running fine. I was expecting to have to restore it to the restore point I created but I didn't have to. So no reformating for me I know it has been a couple of months on this issue but this solution worked for me.

Ok heres a wierd one for you. exact same thing have to press F8 choose last known config.. to get into vista. having problems installing a new mouse cause of this. read on a website updates can be uninstalled so found the one your on about kb937287 and surprise surprise its the only update that will not let me uninstall. i think ms have screwed up big time, when i updated last it went straight through rebooted and then it started i went back a restore point and it worked again until i got the update again.
i think reformatting same thing will happen as soon as you update, we cannot do anything unless someone alot cleverer than i or ms themselves sort out some kind of fix for this.
